A leopard that has been on the loose on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast for the past four days has still not been caught, wildlife officials said on Wednesday.
Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife spokeswoman Maureen Zimu said traps were set for the animal but it had not been caught.
"It's very evasive... and if we don't trap it by this weekend, we will have to come up with another plan to catch it," she said.
Residents in Mvutshini were earlier this week warned to stay indoors and be cautious after police received reports that a leopard had escaped.
Captain Jabulani Mdletshe said the animal was believed to have escaped from the Hluhluwe Game Reserve.
