A man wanted in connection with various crimes has been arrested after being stopped for speeding in Midrand, Johannesburg.
A police spokesman, Senior Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, said that the 34-year-old man had been caught speeding in a Golf at 1am on the N1 North near Olifantsfontein in Midrand.
"He was caught doing 162km/h," he said.
The police also recovered a rifle and two magazines containing 66 rounds of ammunition.
"It was then discovered that he has been wanted for other crimes, including armed robbery, car hijacking and pointing a firearm," said Minnaar.
The man will appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Minnaar said the car that the man had been driving belonged to a man in Lenasia, and a police investigation was under way to establish if there was a criminal link between the two men. - Sapa
