Madrid – Alberto Contador has been kept waiting on a final ruling over his failed Tour de France doping test amid reports he would be cleared of any ban.

Spanish cycling federation president Juan Carlos Castano says the disciplinary committee was still deliberating and a decision was expected later Tuesday.

Spanish media reports Monday said the committee was set to drop a proposed one-year ban after the Spanish cyclist tested positive for clenbuterol at last year's Tour.

Contador, who claims he unintentionally ingested the drug through contaminated meat, was set to give a television interview late Tuesday.
