All Blacks banned
TOKYO: All Black stars Sitiveni Sivivatu and Tony Woodcock will not be able to play against Wales next weekend after they were suspended for one week after being cited for separate offences in the 32-19 defeat of Australia in the Bledisloe Cup Test. Sivivatu was cited by citing commissioner Scott Nowland (Australia) for a dangerous tackle on Adam Ashley-Cooper in the 34th minute of the first half, while Woodcock was cited for striking Wallabies veteran flanker George Smith with his elbow in the 80th minute of the match. - Sapa-AFP
Marathon winners
Tshidiso Bosiu and Rene Kalmer walked away with R100 000 each after winning the men's and women's titles at the Nedbank Soweto Marathon yesterday. Bosiu and Kalmer became the latest to pocket an additional R10 000 for various time incentives, and Kalmer also beat the 2001 race record of 2:45:37, breaking the tape in 2:44:06 while Bosiu clocked in 2:18:10 to win the men's category. Kalmer was followed by Poppy Mlambo, who recently participated in the 16th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham. Besides her prize money of R80 000, Mlambo received an additional R6 000 time incentive reward. - Sapa

MILAN: Enzo Ferrari, the great grandson of his namesake - the car firm's founder, has gained a motor racing licence but is keeping his ambitions in check. "For the moment I have only taken a racing licence. A dream is to race the Le Mans 24-Hour," the 21-year-old told the Gazzetta Sportiva newspaper.- Reuters

MADISON, Mississippi: US PGA Tour officials cancelled the rain-flooded Viking Classic on Saturday after overnight showers swamped an already-saturated course.

Ljubicic finds form
LYON: Croatian Ivan Ljubicic ended a title drought stretching back over two years as he claimed the Lyon ATP trophy, beating Frenchman Mickael Llodra 7-6 6-3. The third-seeded Ljubicic, who won the first of his nine career titles in Lyon in 2001, required one break of serve in the first set in the 12th game to edge into the lead having wasted two break points in the sixth game. - Sapa-AFP
