WHAT would you consider to be the highlight of your year so far?
Landing my role in Celebration! I’ve done a lot of theatre this year, but have been longing to do more vocal work,
so this is just how I wanted to end the year. Also, I will be recording my first single soon.
What’s you favourite Durban restaurant, shop, mall and local leisure activity?
I enjoy Cape Town Fish Market at uShaka Marine World, Musica stores and Gateway mall. Favourite leisure activity has to be Wet ’n’ Wild at uShaka. What movie have you most enjoyed in the past 12 months – and what is your favourite film of all time?
I thought The Hangoverwas very funny. My fave film ever has to be Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The combination of a musical, which is my favourite genre, with Johnny Depp, my favourite actor, makes it a big winner for me.
What album is in your CD player and why? Also, what
is your most cherished album of all time?
Mariah Carey’s Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel is my
current favourite. Carey is the best female vocalist out there. She’s unmatched. My most cherished album? You’re talking to a big music lover … I can’t possibly choose.
What is your favourite kind of meal? And least
favourite?
My favourite is sushi. Least favourite has to be turkey.
How do you keep fit?
I walk a lot, work hard in rehearsals and drink loads of
water. The three things that
make South Africa great?
The people. We have a great story to tell. Biltong.
The word or phrase you most overuse?
Yo!
One thing about yourself that you’d love to change?
Nothing. I accept everyone as they are, including myself.
How and where did you celebrate your last birthday?
And when is your birthday?
It’s on December 4. Last year I performed in two productions on my birthday, but my friends and I went out for supper later.
Dream holiday? And with whom if it could be a fantasy
date?
It would be a world cruise. I get to fantasise about that in Celebration! but I’m hoping it’s going to become a reality. I’d love to go with all the people I love – family, friends and definitely my two dogs, Lilo and Prince. My fantasy date would be Jessica Alba.
If you could be an animal what would it be?
A turtle, because maybe, some day, I’d turn into one of
the ninja turtles.
Personalities you most admire – and why?
Ellen DeGeneres (the epitome of humility and
humanitarianism); Barack Obama (a do-er, not just a
talker); my parents (married for more than 20 years and incredibly supportive of their children); Father Wayne from Christ the King Catholic church in Wentworth (the real thing: a very godly man); and
Gcina Mhlope (she inspires everyone she meets).
Six things you truly love? And six things you detest?
I love music, singing, acting, dancing, my dogs, my family and friends. I detest liars, show-offs, thieves, negative people, energy vampires and cruelty to animals.
What is the funniest thing that ever happened to you?
I was playing the role of Aunty Pushpa in a children’s
play, Bob and Rob, when I tripped on a sari and fell flat on my back on stage.
Favourite actor, actress, author, singer, band and
television show?
Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Gcina Mhlope , Brandy Norwood, Linkin Park and So You Think You Can Dance.
Three things you have to do before you die?
Make my mark in the music industry, own my own
restaurant and go skydiving (but hopefully that won’t be the last thing I do).
What are you reading at the moment?
The Secret Things of God by Doctor Henry Cloud.
What are your three favourite cities?
Dubai, the shopping mecca of the world; New York,
Broadway’s there; and Paris, a truly beautiful city.
Mention things about yourself that most people
don’t know. I can bend my thumb right back on itself; I can spend all day in a toy store; if I could I’d live on the beach (preferably in a house); and I don’t have a middle name.
