Moila part of ASA's new board

November 23, 2009 Edition 1

South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee board member Ray Mali, who took over the administration of Athletics South Africa, will meet the interim ASA board - which includes Durban's Blanche Moila - at the weekend.

This follows the announcement of the new interim board members, which include Geraldine Pillay, Hendrick Ramaala, James Mokoka, James Evans, Daan Louw, James Moloi, Pieter Lourens, Moila and Alex Skhosana.

Mali said the meeting would, among other things, discuss how they could deliver an impressive athletics season.

The meeting comes amid some disgruntled provinces, especially Central Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, protesting the inclusion of pro-Leonard Chuene supporters on the interim board.

Mali and Pillay have given an undertaking to talk to associations opposed to certain nominations. Pillay said these associations were within their rights to pass votes of no confidence in their provinces. - Sapa
