SANA'A: Yemeni forces have seized a fishing boat carrying weapons from Somalia to Yemen, and arrested its owner. The vessel, its cargo and its owner, who was identified as SM Saeed, were taken into custody last week, the defence ministry said in a statement on its website yesterday.
Security patrols had monitored the boat and found it to be carrying weapons and 12 sailors from the Hes Bes area of Somalia towards the coast of Yemen.
The owner was detained in the Khoukha area of Hodeida district, about 90km from Sana'a, on suspicion of smuggling weapons. The statement did not mention the fate of the crew. - Sapa-AFP
