Record snowfall blankets Ontario
December 15, 2009 Edition 1
TORONTO: Canada's eastern province of Ontario was buried under one metre of snow yesterday as temperatures on the west coast plunged to minus 50186C, media reports said.
Up to 100 000 people were cut off by the snowfall, one of the heaviest, which blanketed much of the business hub of Toronto and was chest-deep in places. Police advised people to avoid travelling in the region until the middle of the week. - Sapa-dpa
